The Leading Planetary Players
Sun Moon Saturn
These three planets represent the ego or the personality and are the actors which take the leading parts in our life’s play. They show how we identify ourselves, giving a sense of our individuality and how we see ourselves on our own stage. Possibly the most important undertaking in life is to achieve a balanced and harmonious relationship between our mind (Sun) emotions (Moon) and physical being (Saturn). Usually we have developed one of these parts more than the others and consequently are living in a more or less unbalanced or lopsided state. Perhaps we are overly concerned with our thinking process and leave the emotional self to slowly wither and die. Maybe we become so concerned about our safety we will take no chances with life and consequently end up with an ever narrowing view point of what our life could be.
If you imagine a camera standing on a tripod taking pictures of the action on a stage with one of the legs shorter or longer than the others it follows the pictures will not come out the way they were intended. One of the actors might appear to be over exposed, out of focus, maybe not even in shot or blurred round the edges.
How much does this resemble an outlook you might recognise? How stable is the base from which you view life? How much control do you have over the script of the play and how much of the script do you think you wrote?
The parts played by the Sun Moon and Saturn.
Starting with the Sun we can look at this as acting the part of a King. This is the drive inside each of us for individuality and the thought “I am an individual”. How does your king look and feel to you? Close your eyes and reflect for a moment on how you see you’re kingly self. Does your king strut his stuff on the stage of life, is he a bit withdrawn, decisive or indecisive? What does he wear on his head is it a crown or
perhaps a battered old beret.
Before we go any further I am saying he, it does not matter whether you are male or female we all have both feminine and masculine drives within us. Is he a warrior king who perhaps rides rough shod over everyone or on the other hand does he take into consideration the needs and wishes of others. Am I more important than anyone else? It is these types of questions that can start to give clues as to what the sun represents to you.

The Moon can be seen as the Queen representing our need and wish for contact with the world around us, it is the emotional part of our personality. I personally feel the image of a queen is a much softer and gentler image than that of the king. Although there are warrior queens generally one thinks of the warrior king. To begin to connect to your Moon once again close your eyes and start to get a feeling for how you go about getting in touch with people. How do you behave say at a party are you a wallflower, a shrinking violet, or do you reach out and make contact with every guest whether you know them or not. Are you happy to shake someone’s hand or would you prefer not to be noticed.
The gravitational pull from the Moon causes the tides to ebb and flow ask yourself what is the ebb and flow of your emotional state like. Is the high tide followed by the lowest? Or is there a gentle flow between them both.

This is the part of us which place restrictions and all the ways we limit our selves. Saturn describes the rules a person has established for them self or the external limits we have imposed on our personal growth. It is our sense of security, the inner voice which says don’t do it, take care now, stay safe. The memory of what past actions caused, good and not so good. How do you see this particular actor what does he look like to you? Does he speak to you in a friendly voice or is it a nagging don’t do that you know what happens when you do this, type of voice?
Do you see him as a gate keeper keeping people from knocking or does he allow any old Tom, Dick or Harry to come calling at any hour of the day or night. Perhaps he is the shadowy figure behind the throne exercising his power in a covert way. Maybe he is good at building walls to the palace of the King and Queen but not very good at remembering to leave a doorway.
Whatever the names of the characters and whatever the script that has been written for them remember you are the director and have the ultimate say on how this cast of characters behave.
